Class Responsibilities

Miss Perry's Expectations for her 5P Students:

1. Be respectful of ALL people - your teachers, your classmates, and yourself.
2. Keep an open mind...LISTEN to each other and your teachers, then give honest, caring feedback.
3. Be willing to take chances in your learning - EVERY experience teaches us something.
4. Keep our classroom and our school a SAFE PLACE for us to come.
Everyone has the right to feel welcome and respected for who they are.

5P Students are Responsible For:

1. Following the "Golden Rule."
2. Respecting other people's opinions and beliefs.
3. Keeping our eyes, ears, and brains on the speaker.
4. Doing our own best work.
5. Listening and following the directions of the adults in the room.
6. Helping others when they struggle.

These rights and responsibilities closely relate to the Character Counts program we follow here at Grace McWayne.  Each month the entire school focuses on one of the six pillars (Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship), learning together about what it means to be a person of good character.

Consequences

1. The student will sign The Book.

2. The student will fill out a “Think it Through” sheet, conference with Miss Perry, and discuss the sheet at home with his/her parents.  (Please sign and return it!)

3. The student will call home and report the incident – parent conference (either in person or by phone).

Rewards

I believe students who consistently display good behavior choices should be rewarded for their conscious efforts.  At the end of each month, I will hold a celebratory lunch to honor those students who have filled out fewer than three "Think It Through" sheets and have turned in all homework.  These students will enjoy lunch in the classroom with me as well as a special treat!

"Behavior is a mirror in which every one displays his own image."
