Advisory

Advisory is a class in which students are taught social and study skills.  Each day, fifteen minutes of advisory time are used directly after lunch for sustained silent reading.  This gives students an opportunity to “re-group” after lunch, foster enjoyment of reading, and develop better readers. This is followed by their seventh period class.  Then at 2:36 students go to their advisory class.  Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are "study days" during which the advisory teacher helps students work on organizational, study, and time management skills. In addition, students can also make up tests and science labs as well as get extra help from the teacher who teaches the class where a student may be struggling.  On most Tuesdays and Thursdays, activities are done that relate to the Pillar of Character that is being emphasized during that month.
